Hello, I'm Vanessa
What I Do & Why I Do It: Helping stressed out, anxious, neurodivergent women, mothers, couples, and professionals balance a complex life and journey to greater peace, contentment, and authenticity is my passion. Working on managing emotions, building healthy coping skills and creating YOUR meaningful life is my what I do. I use a biopsychosocial approach that considers your whole person and the many factors that influence your life - I centre your experience and challenges in our work.
I am a mother of three children, and I understand what it’s like to balance the needs of many including oneself. I am excited to meet you where you are and help you take a pause, unsubscribe, try something different, and problem solve in a holistic way focused on appreciating your gifts and normalizing your lived experience. I work by meeting your individual & diverse needs as fully as I can while creating a warm and empathetic environment for you to feel seen and heard.
My Professional Background: I am an intern clinical counsellor with a Bachelor of Arts in Child & Youth Care Counselling and currently completing my Master’s in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. I worked in inpatient psychiatry at BC Children’s Hospital for ten years with children, youth and their caregivers with mental health & behavioural challenges, along with many other front-line therapeutic roles, and I am taking everything I have learned to bring it into my adult-focused clinical counselling now.
My Availability: I am available on Thursdays for virtual sessions.
Cost: $100/ session recommended, with no barrier access to up to 10 sessions on a "Pay-What-You-Can" scale - we will discuss this in our first session (and extension requests can be discussed). Any fees collected for work with me covers my supervision costs with Thea Megas, RCC and the costs of running an intern program within the clinic. Most extended benefit plans do not cover the cost of intern counsellors; it is up to you to ensure this by checking if your plan does. In January, 2024, Vanessa will have completed her internship and will start taking private pay clients starting at $135/ hour for individual sessions.
